Hi, I’m Leah!

So glad you found me here. You may have come across my page because you’re looking for someone to help you find the answers, to guide you in how to ease your suffering, to explore things that you’ve been aching to explore.

I am happy to help with any or all of those things, but first, let’s find out if we’re a good match! Feel free to make your way through my website and see if you like what you’re reading.

Location

My office is located in Rochester, NY. However, I am available via telehealth to work with clients throughout New York State.

  • Sign up for my mailing list to receive your first free resource: “5 Relationship Truths For People-Pleasers To Remember.”

  • Psychodynamic

Psychodynamic work involves looking closely at the therapist-client relationship in an effort to better understand other relationships in your life. This approach informs all of my work. This is a flexible, non-prescriptive approach to therapy that has moved well beyond its Freudian roots. I believe strongly in utilizing this approach in all of my work as I feel that I am ethically aligned with its qualities of humility, collaboration, and a rejection of what is considered my most to be “standard.”

  • Creative Arts

This can involve music-making, music listening, art-making, sandtray work, and play. I am open to utilizing other creative avenues as guided by my clients as well.

The goal when utilizing these creative outlets in the therapy space is not to create an end product, but rather, to notice what happens in the process of the work.

  • Family Work

If your child/adolescent is struggling, family work can be helpful. This is because your child does not exist in a vacuum—and to be able to work with a system vs an individual allows for more widespread healing. This generally involves a mix of meetings involving parents/caretakers and targeted child, though can involve siblings or other family members if warranted.

  • Individual Work

Available to adults. I require meeting at least every other week, weekly preferred.

  • Group Work

I have an abundance of experience running interpersonal process groups. More to come on these offerings.

  • Therapist Supervision

With experience as a professor and music therapy student supervisor, I am happy to work with any interested creative arts therapists. I am especially interested in providing guidance to music therapists who want to build their verbal therapy skills or confidence in working in a mental health setting.

Learn to embrace who you really are

I have a sign on my office door that reads, “Come As You Are”, and I really mean it! I am not interested in changing you to be the person that I’d like you to be. My wish for all of my clients, regardless of the capacity in which we’re working together—individual, family group, etc.—if for that person to find their individual, authentic self. To find the truth of who you are deep down inside!
